Being in Naples, Florida is such a wonderful bliss. You are much closer to nature; you are surrounded by flowing of crystal clear blue waters, the rusting of the green leaves of trees big and small, and the sweet singing tune of the birds that perch along its branches. Good thing you can find all of these in one place. We’re talking about the Gordon River Greenway. Located in 1596 Golden Gate Parkway Naples, FL this mini-paradise offers a much needed escape for the weary city warrior where you are immediately greeted by the warm breeze that came down from the blue skies of Florida.
You can fine this lovely piece of heaven if you head down from the Airport Road then proceed west to Golden Gate Parkway. Find your way into the Naples Zoo but don’t go in the property and head to the zoo’s parking lot. On the very eastern end you should be able to find your way into the Gordon River Park. In case you lose your way, not to worry because the park is open for seven days a week. This means you practically time to lose (just kidding, bud). The park is relatively easy to find once you find yourself in Naples Zoo.
Once there, what will be waiting for you is the last unspoiled area of urban Naples. There will be wooden walking paths for you to use but there are no steel or concrete structures around the general park area. You will be able to enjoy the peaceful looking mangrove forest and all sorts of birds, flying above the waters of the river. This would be the best time to take that perfect shot if you happen to be a wildlife photographer. The Gordon River is a two mile stretch of water from the Golden Gate Parkway and it’s covered in mangrove trees where the fish eggs hatch and other small creatures that may be insignificant to our eyes yet play a major role in the region’s ecosystem.
Aside from the pathways other amenities in the park that people can enjoy include viewing stations, educational signage, interpretative graphics, a playground for the kids and more bridges that allows you more mobility and access to otherwise impassable areas in the park. This is for you to get a closer look at the beauty of the place. However, if you want to be really close, then the Gordon River Greenway has a kayak launch for those who want to paddle their way into serenity.
The Gordon River Greenway is just one of the many public parks that you and your family can enjoy in Naples, Florida.
