If you find yourself looking for a way to survive a Southwest Florida summer, then the secret to this is simple, it is finding a decent breeze. Along the drift, once in a while, the ocean will be able to help you out with this. But sometimes, you need to do it without anyone else’s help. This is where the myriad of water sporting options in Naples, Florida come in.

For Dan Costaregni, who works in a comfort food joint in Naples, the mid-year is about looking for ways to staying away from the heat.  “The best thing in the summer is boating and the beaches—anything that will give you a nice breeze.”

He’ll speed around Naples on his bike. On a decent day, he’ll take the family out on the Gulf. The opportunity to feel the ocean air as he skims along the water is one of those encounters that make Southwest Florida awesome. “We also usually rent a boat from the Naples Bay Marina and head up to Keewaydin Island (which is accessible only by boat). On calm days, we take the Gulf side down.”

Water sports have been one of the exciting parts in visiting here in Naples, Florida. One of the biggest annual events would has got to be the Pro Watercross Championship, where the best jet-ski racers in the world battle it out to be the fastest man on water.  They compete in a series of events involving high powered jet-skis and challenging courses. It’s attended by lots of people and is covered by the media for national television so it’s a really big event. There are also the swamp buggy races that are considered one of the more extreme sports. Big make-shift vehicles with huge tires and equally huge engines glide across the shallow, grassy and muddy swamps of the outskirts of the city. If you’re looking for some rough and tumble games for big bad dirty boys then that one might interest you.

However, if you are looking for a more slow and easy water excursion, then you can paddleboard or kayak your way to pure relaxation. There are lots of places especially outside of Naples, Florida like in the Everglades city or in Marco Island where you can rent a kayak or a small boat so you can enjoy the pristine estuaries, the dolphins and the mangrove forests, plus not to mention the sometimes tricky rivers and waterways that are found all over this blessed region.

Fishing is also provides something to look forward to. The waters of the Paradise Coast are teaming with game fishes from both fresh water and salt water. Charters can be rented from companies near the coast and the captains will be more than willing to take you out into the gulf for some deep sea fishing. The Red Grouper and the Spanish mackerel are all waiting to get caught.

Fun and excitement await in the waters of the Paradise Coast. Whether you want it slow or you want to go to the extreme, there’s always something out for you here.
