We love our dogs very much. They give us comfort when we need it and we can tell they like us too – because why wouldn’t they? They are practically members of the family. This is probably why we struggle inside whenever we have to leave the house and we have to leave them behind for the day. While some dogs will just sit and stare us as if saying that they don’t understand why we have to go, other dogs cry and whimper. Either way, this experience always breaks the heart of any dog owner all the same.
The people of Naples, Florida understand this experience which is why there are certain pretty locations around the city that allow the good dog owners to bring their furry family member(s) with them. And the greater news is these areas are friendly not just for pets but for people as well – everyone wins.
There are several privately run places that welcome your pet but we can cite a couple ones that are publicly owned. The first one is Keewaydin Island. This place is a tiny island barrier that’s about 8 miles long. It acts as a wildlife and marine sanctuary that keeps the eco-system of the region in good shape. And since Keewaydin is an island, it is isolated from the mainland, which means the only way to get there is by boat. You may take a rented boat tour and one of your stops will be on this island or you can get your own boat and bring it there. There is a quiet charm in the place and you may be able to see fishing enthusiasts here and there. You can bring your dogs to the island; however, they must be leashed at all times for safety reasons.
Another place you’d want to bring your dog to is the Naples Dog Park or “Central Bark” as it’s fondly called around here. The park is about 2.5 acres of grassy plains and the area is divided into two large sections, one for small dogs and one for the bigger dogs. This way you don’t get your puppies bullied by the big dogs. There park is close to the downtown area so it really convenient because it’s easy to reach. There are benches, shady trees, trash bins, dog washing stations plus water fountains for you and your four-legged best friend.
These are just a couple of places you can bring your dogs for them to feel happy. It’s important to let them walk and run for at the very minimum once a week, depending on your dog, because there are some breeds that need more exercise. If they stay leashed or caged for very long, it can be very stressful for them. This is why it’s a great thing that we have these places in Naples, Florida.
