The 32nd annual SummerJazz by the Gulf concert will be at it again this year and it will feature the same ambiance and the same vibe like all the people here love. It will be an open-air event featuring the best jazz bands and voices that will soothe your afternoon away. The event will happen, as usual, from dusk till sundown and you can bring your chairs, umbrellas and your easy mood with you too.
This year’s event will grace us with an opening of smooth contemporary jazz tunes featuring performances from The Betty Fox band that will be playing for its fifth consecutive year in this event. This funk-infused soul and blues band has proven to be a crowd favorite, especially the voice of Betty Fox herself. Other talented performers and captivating vocalists will make up the show as well.
These performers will be seen in the series of events that will take place after the June opener. We will see a continuation of this the next month, with smooth and relaxing music from the ever entertaining Pocket Change and by August, we will be soothed by the voice of Gloria West and the Gents. The event will culminate at September with the mesmerizing Late Night Brass. All these events will happen from dusk till sundown.
The events, like all the others that went before it, will be brought to you by a major hotel chain in the city. Hotel guests will be given complimentary car parking passes and those who are non-guests can choose a spot in the lovely Lowdermilk Park Beach area then take a shuttle bus to the concert venue courtesy of the event organizers. And oh, did we mention that all this series of events will be all for free?
Another thing to remember is that drinks and food from outside the venue are not allowed and this means coolers are not allowed as well. Instead, visitors are given options available at the food concession area where guests can choose a selection of snacks such as grilled burgers, hotdogs and chicken sandwiches. There are also popular drinks and mixes in a popular bar and grill nearby. If after the concert, you find yourselves looking for a proper dinner meal, there is a restaurant nearby with dinner menus that consist of gourmet scallops, crabs, pork, steak and fish. This is all complemented with an outdoor patio overlooking the white sand beach and the sparkly waters of the gulf.
