Facts:

Vanderbilt beach is one of the more lovely summer spots in the region because of its proximity to the city. It’s just about 9 miles from the center of Naples. And there are times of the year when not many people come around so this is when some couples sneak in and walk by the beach together to get a little privacy. We know what you’re thinking but, no, Florida has strict indecent exposure laws so we suggest getting your own room. Anyhow, the place is usually clean despite that it’s packed with people at times and it’s very family friendly so there would be no problem if you bring your kids with you.  The white sands feel cool on the feet. You’re free to walk around, even pick up some shells if you’re lucky to find one but there are times in the year where certain section of the beach will be off limits to tourists to make space for sea turtles laying their eggs. And because of its proximity to the hotels and the restaurants of Naples, Florida, it’s very easy for you to head down there for dinner after witnessing the most gorgeous sunset in the world.

History:

Vanderbilt beach has a long history in Naples. The Vanderbilt beach first existed as just the Vanderbilt hotel and did not include the beach property it has today. This family-owned business has been providing awesome vacations to countless families for over 60 years. The business began when a man named Robert Moore purchased the Vanderbilt hotel in 1968. Since then, they exhibited hospitality towards guests and by the mid 70’s the property was inherited by his son Mike Moore.  Today it’s being operated by Mike’s son Mick and so the warm sunshine, the pristine beach, the white sand and the happy smiles of the guests continue to this day.

Tips:

  • Parking is not too far from the beach but you still have to secure a parking permit from the local council so you can park for free.
  • Sunsets are so pretty, people on the beach clap when it happens.
  • You may find it hard to look for a place to sit especially when its crowded. Remember to bring an umbrella and your own seats are there are not many structures for people within the beach itself aside from the main hotel building so as to preserve its natural beauty.
  • Restrooms and shower rooms are available in the beach area, though.
  • Kayak rentals are available in the area too.
  • The folks from Divine Naples can deliver food and drinks straight to where you are at the beach. No need to leave your spot.
  • Vanderbilt offers room accommodations to suit your needs.
  • Fishing is a thing in Vanderbilt beach. You can rent a kayak then go off fishing by the coast.
  • Beach games like volleyball can be an enjoyable thing to do so long as there are not too many people around that will potentially be bothered by it. An alternative would be to build sand castles.
